NEO is a decentralized and distributed network protocol based on the blockchain technology. People can use it to digitize assets or stocks, as well as to perform certain financial transactions like recording or broadcasting through a peer-to-peer network to carry out transactions, a settlement or even a payment. Two currencies are present on NEO: NEO and GAS. The NEO makes it possible to participate in the choices of the future of the blockchain via elections (on the Bitcoin, it is the power of calculation) in proportion to the quantity held. So NEO could be compared to a share that pays dividends, in GAS. The GAS is used to pay transaction fees. The total number of NEOs is limited to 100 million. A block is created every 15 seconds. Formerly named Antshares and Antcoin, NEO changed its name in August 2017. |
